Yes its a newer gen, pretty much everythin from the dawn of the ej series motor is a newer gen...

 

Valve cover gaskets are easy, if I recall there are three 10mm bolts holding each one on.

 

Auto seat belts are dumb, do a search for "auto seat belt conversion"

 

It is probably a fuse, or the door switch not working right, does you interior light still work when you open the door?

Some others may have more insight into this problem, but check out the little things and then its probably the motor
