Engine ECU grounding - Where is it ?

Featured Replies

Good morning :-)

On "new" subaru's in general (lets say impreza & legacy - all since 1995 and on), where's the location of the ground connection of the engine ECU ? (is it somewhere on the body frame near the passenger ? or is it on the engine ?)

I searched on wiring-diagrams but it doesnt describes if its the body gorund or engine ground.

Thanks alot,

Itzik

Not certain of the 95-98, but in the 99 and on N/A, the ECU has it's main ground to the intake manifold. On USDM, just to the left of the throttle body ( as you look from the front with the hood open ).

As the wiring harness breaks out of the main body of wires, you will see the ground lug under a bolt there.

The Turbo's are on the right side from the front. STI's are to the block. This may be why the 'grounding mod' has some effect on engine performance as it produces a full underhood grounding that Subaru doesn't from the factory.
