February 27, 200719 yr (1997 Subaru Legacy Wagon) The front wheel bearing seal with the rubber lip, does it go on the transmission side of hub or the wheel side? Last year the one I took apart was on the wheel side, last weeken with help from someone we found the seal on the other front hub with the rubber lip on the transmission side. Both of these hubs had been done in the past by other shops, so someone put one in wrong. Which is correct?
February 27, 200719 yr The inner seal on the housing goes with the outer lip to the outside towards the C/V( if that make sense ) The inner seal you descibe is a double lip seal , Correct ? Check out the attached SEA#3
February 27, 200719 yr Author Thanks for the file, it does look like the one with the lip is on the inner side of the hub. The seals both look the same except one has the rubber lip on the edge of it. I do not recall it having a double lip only one on the outer side of seal. The inner seal on the housing goes with the outer lip to the outside towards the C/V( if that make sense ) The inner seal you descibe is a double lip seal , Correct ?Check out the attached SEA#3
