well i and one or 2 other yuma 4 wheelers are going to superstition mountains ohv area on the outskirts of el centro, ca. it's about 13,300 acres. everything from sand dunes to rocks, easy to most difficult. camping is primitive.

anyone going to come?

mmm... I think I am game, have to check w/other 1/2 and then decide which soob to take.

This would be a good shakedown trip for the BRAT. But OBS is more reliable.

We'll see..

plenty of sand and there's some rocky trails we'll be scouting also. bring the brat, it's got a lift right?

I might have to go in a Jeep if I can't get my axles and driveshaft done for the brat before then.... but I think I could use some good primitive camping.

The lift is almost done. I have to iron out some remaining issues and get it started.

well changed to mid april. do to the fact that i'm having trouble finding an end piece for the mustach bar. it tore through.

mid april works a lot better. I am having problems with the camber and I have decide to go with custom control arm.

Have a friend who can TIG helping me out.

We are kicking around some pretty sweet ideas here in SOCAL. Like long travel rear trailing arms and stuff. Most of our terrain here is rolling dunes and desert so articulation and low gearing is not a must. Suspension travel for Bajaing is what is needed.

which is why i'll be building a class7 truck or class 10 buggy, sometime after i finish my toyota.

  • 2 weeks later...

right on.

Looks like we are the only two here that are going.

I might be able to convince a friend to come and drive my wagon and I will take the BRAT.

easter weekend, should be a good weekend. april 6th to the morning of the 8th. superstition mountains. i'll try to post directions tomorrow. i got a map with directions from the I8. hope to meet you and see you there. i'll probably bring one more rig or 2 from yuma.some of the trails may be difficult runs. i don't know about bypasses on on of the trails. the rest should be fine with a mildly modified subaru.

Still have not found anyone to do my axles yet. I really doubt the brat will be ready in a week. I still want to take the Jeep. Hope the wifey is okay with going since I have to go to phx this weekend with her.

Not going to make it. Couldn't get my axles fabbed and the Jeep is having overheating problems on the freeway. If it wasn't a couple of hundred miles I would take the jeep... but ... oh well. Being broke down on I-10 last weekend SUCKED. Not looking for a repeat. *Bummed*
