March 26, 200719 yr i recentlly failed my smog test in cali. the guys said it wqas because the CEL was reset. does anyone know how many miles i have to drive before i can retest? or anyone hear something about it. i need to have it smoged so i can register it.

Drive the car as described in the link; under normal circumstances (no systems malfunctioning), the drive cycle should be all that's needed for I/M readiness. A scan tool could be used to verify that all monitors are ready before the inspection, if you're concerned that there's a problem.
March 27, 200719 yr my 96 outback failed the first test then i changed the o2 sensor and passed third time around.

Otherwise, it's possible that more than one cycle will be required. (Yes, I know that some roads/traffic don't make it easy to drive as needed. )
