aotomatic transmission 1990 legacy

Featured Replies

Hi,

I went from a 'stiff shifting' legacy to nothing--it seems obvious the linkage is broken but I am not sure what it is--a cable, shaft?? I now have a gear shift that moves back and forth easy but it does not shift the transmission...

Is it a common or easy fix??? The old car is getting old. 355K

thanks

scott

Sounds like the shifter cable has snapped all right. It goes from the shifter lever to the right (passenger) side of the transmission. Takes a 12mm wrench at the transmission side. Not too sure about the shifter side though.
