I finally got my 91 loyale to start after replacing the computer but now it wont idle. As soon as I start it it idles for maybe 2 seconds and dies. If I try to give it gas, it dies. Sometimes I can manipulate the throttle and keep it running until it warms up and then it will idle, but very high. Previously I was told to check the MAF and when I checked it per FSM it tests fine. What could it be?

check everything you can with a meter...

idle air control valve (take it off and clean it out, preventive maintenance)

coolant temperature sensor (check the connector, clean it up good)

throttle position sensor (check the connector, and clean it too)

mass air flow sensor (you checked it though, did you clean it too?)

then go ahead and make sure you dont have a vacuum leak... spray carb cleaner around the vacuum hoses... if idle goes jumpy, you found a leak

check for codes from the ECU

run a D-Check if you can keep the car running

last but not least...

get the pinouts from the FSM... and start checking for continuity on the wires from the ECU plug to the assorted sensors
