June 10, 200718 yr I get conflicting info from parts catalogs as to whether 2wd and AWD rear bearings are the same for a 93 Legacy. Can anybody answer this?
June 11, 200718 yr Author After I posted this I found some more specific diagrahms. Beware buying rear wheel bearings though. It appears the auto parts stores, or some anyhow, don't show a difference.
June 11, 200718 yr They are different. The rear FWD bearings are ball bearings, while the rear AWD bearings are tapered roller bearings.
June 11, 200718 yr one other thing to note is that the chance you'll also need hubs is pretty good. If there is even a slight lip worn into the part that goes into the bearing, the new bearings will get trashed in a very short period of time.
June 12, 200718 yr Author Thanks to everyone with the info. I got them done and it worked out fine. The kit I bought was a Hub/Bearing assembly.
