What heads on an EA82 non-turbo?

What did that kit include? If it had all the valve cover and timing cover gaskets, and all the cam, main and Oil pump seals that was a deal for sure. The dealer I go through ussually charges $30 just for the 3 oil pump seals and another $25 for just the valve cover gaskets. Cam and main seals are about $15 a piece.

well...I don't rightly know whats in the kit yet as I haven't opened it. I asked for a head set (if it were English thats what you ask for) to do head gaskets out so I'm assuming (hoping) its all there...guess I'd better check.

I know some dealersare starting to offer aftermarket brand pars for htese cars so perhaps they sold you a Fle-pro kit or something. Otherwise they had to piece toghether a kit because subaru doesn't sell "kits", everything has it's own part number and price.

I know my dealer put's toghether oil pump reseal kits(TOD kit). They put the 3 seals in a bag toghether(still in thier seperate subaru # bags) and use a label that they print to mark it on the outside.

ok my bad...

Heads are EA82 and not in a box...Case stamping EA82 is in a box...

dealer "head kit" has:

factory head gaskets, 4 intake gaskets, 2 cam cover gaskets and cam cover seals/plugs (around bolts)..pretty much everything you move, remove or can damage during teardown. There is a small package of misc small o rings and washers...not sure what the o rings are for as I didn't notice anything coming out...wouldn't be valve seals would it?

Bill

Heads can not be swapped from one side to the other.

Cam forward, exhaust ports down.

Nothing like posting with your head up your rear orfice!

I was looking at the head assembly not at the bigger picture of the cam assembly coming off before head can be removed. :dead:

Thanks to Gloyale's post it's nice to know I got the not interchangaable (At least with out mods) right. But that was luck and not of wisdom.

Sounds like you got a decent price. I paid more for a complete set from thepartsbin, much more.

I will remember this thread when I get around to tearing into the two motors I have with suspected HG issues. One ea82 and one ej22.

OT: Off to the Blue Mt. for a while. Will check back in some time in August to see the latest.

went through a friend's shop and he got it from Burt Sub on Arapahoe I think

the Fel-pro permatorques are the way to go on the HG's. if you haven't opened the package yet, i'd return it or keep it for the other stuff if that's cost effective.

i can't see them but the orings are probably fuel injectors seals and o-rings. the aftermarket kits come with valve stem seals (two sizes - exhaust and intake). the Subaru set may not come with those since they aren't absolutely necessary.

don't forget the cam carrier oring, it's probably not in the head set and is a dealer only item (or http://www.thepartsbin.com carries them as well).
