$!@#% hydraulic clutch!

Featured Replies

The new clutch on the Impreza is going to take some getting used to. The clutch grabs when the pedal about even with the brake pedal, but the clutch pedal still goes through the full throw. My friggin knee is next to the steering wheel when I take my foot off it if.

That's how it always was, but I assumed it would get better after getting the clutch replaced. :-\

Some clutches catch high and some catch low. Just depends on the brand and design usually.

I found this set of instructions to adjust the throw of the clutch pedal posted in an old thread on NASIOC.com. Will it work on my 98?

IIRC all the hydralic clutch systems similar, except fot push/pull(n/a:turbo) action. You should be able to get that to work for you. I've adjusted the catch point on hydro clutch cars before, just not subaru.

It's not the catch point I'm worried about so much since it's brand new and catches pretty low. What's annoying is the fact that the pedal still comes up more than twice as high as the brake. My legs are long and this is uncomfortable to say the least. It's also hard to use any amount of finesse. I just want to adjust the throw so that it's down nearer where it should be.

I'm pretty sure that it's supposed to be at about the same level with the brake, right?

The way they are set up, I don't think there is a stop on them. You could make on for it thoug.
