ok i cant find where this knock is coming from fly wheel CHECK,beltsANDpullysCHECK,acc's CHECK,WHAT COULD IT BE.

its an ea82 carbed any one know pleas help. runs ok just knocks

the flywheel bolts could have come loose my friend hjad that happen after he changed his clutch, louds knocking noise that increased with engine speed

checked those all are tight. all pullys and belts ar good also the alt ps and wp are all good. could it be the oil pump?? i removed the timing belt and turned it with a wrench and it spun free no ruff spots at all. im gonna pull the valve covers today and check the valve springa and retainers.

 

any one els know of anything? thanks for the help.

How did you check the flywheel bolts with Engine in the car?

huh? i didnt i pulled the engine out to check them they are all torqued why would you ask that? ( also yes i used a torque wrench)

You're absolutely sure it's not a rod knock? There's not much back there by the flywheel. Flywheel could be hitting that little plate on the bottom of the bellhousing, but I doubt it would sound like a knock, more like a screech.

 

Oil pump is in the front, so not a likely cause.

 

You've ruled out the clutch, pressure plate, and such, as well as TOD, I suppose...

 

Did you crank the engine over by hand while you had it out? You might be able to find it that way.

lol i actualy looked to make shure i said it was an ea82 :lol: its not the metal pate on the bottom ahh idk :(
