LosDiosDeVerde86
No, it's actually not for sale, but i want people's oppinions. I'm looking at selling my legacy. Even though i don't have any recent pictures, i'll do my best to describe the car and get pictures as soon as i can find my camera post-moving. Specs: 1996 Legacy LS Green EJ22 130k miles Moon roof 15" alloys Mods: Glass Pack Outback struts Hella 500 Driving lights Damage: Rust on "the spot" (right rear 1/4 by the well) ---it has rusted through. some minor front bumper damage ---holes where Hellas are mounted ---bottom middle has been cut off due to cracking from parking blocks some minor rear bumper damage ---paint cracks on right corner AC clutch chirps Telescope antenna snapped (will fix) Is Due For: Timing belt, water pump (makes noise), etc Notes: Telescope antenna on a switch because CD player is not compatable - will replace with stock stereo New factory speakers New DutyC AWD-4WD ready (wires are set up, just attach a switch) New MAF New Knock Sensor Basically, what i'm thinking is that it'd be a fine car for a college kid or s new driver. i'd love to hear oppinions on its worth. eryque
1996 Legacies in really nice condition are listing for $3k-$3500 around here, and that's for no visible rust and not needing any maintenance. Based on your description, my guess is that it's worth around $2000. If you sell it to a college kid or something, I think it's only fair to be sure that they know it's due for a $600 maintenance item. My experience is that most kids are going to spend almost all of their cash on a car, which may not be much cash, leaving nothing for repairs. LosDiosDeVerde86
do you guys think it would be worthwhile monetarily to go ahead and fix the engine maint. and replace the glasspack with a stock muffler? i.e. would i get a better return if i took care of the issues that may make it less desirable? doodleallday
Dang, if you were anywhere near Charlotte, NC I'd come take it off your hands and get the maintenance done myself. I'm looking at a 97 Outback with 155k miles for $4900 and that's the cheapest I've found.

doodleallday
Lemme speak to my folks. I'm that 21-year old college kid that people have mentioned in this thread. I have about $5k to buy me a car and groceries for the rest of the semester, and am hoping to save $2k for plane tickets to study abroad in the spring. I am broke as all get-out. But in love with Subaru.

But in love with Subaru. we could potentially meet half way. it's 7 hours from Hilliard (Columbus), OH to Charlotte, NC. but, all this depends on when my wife gets a job. once she gets a job, i get a car....see how that works? heh heh she had an interview yesterday so if all goes well it'll be up for sale in about a month.
