Simplified EJ 2.2 Conversion Wiring ?

Featured Replies

I'm actually putting an EJ into an EA82 Subaru, but am posting this question in the Vanagon Conversion section, with the hopes that maybe I can stir up more people who are familiar with this. (Moderators: feel free to move this post to somewhere else if you think it would be more appropriate).

My question is concerning wiring. Instead of trying to follow the complete wiring diagram as came with the engine, which in this case was a 93 Legacy, I'm looking for a simplified diagram that only includes the bare minimum devices needed to make the engine run. I'm willing to strip out what ever components I need from the donor Legacy, but don't want to take anything I can do without.

After I get some good responses, I will draw up a nice wiring schematic and post it somewhere for you all to use.

Thanks

Rollie

Update:

After searching this site, I found some really good information compiled by Numbchux (Thank you). I will look through it, but would still like to invite anyone who has additional notes to offer.

Thanks again

Rollie

I guess this is a good idea. I am not here myself, but might be here in the future, I am not sure of the best route.

Adapt an Escort distributor (like the airplane guys)?

Carb (again, like the airplane guys)?

Adapt existing fuel injection? (with Escort distributor)

Bite the bullet and wade through miles of wire?

Being an "old poop" (and having played with carbs and distributors for 20+ years) I am not entirely convinced FI is the way to go with a "normal" (non-turbocharged) engine. (Secretly believing FI is "the devil's work")
