October 10, 200718 yr Will it work to put regular (non-electronic air struts) on a Legacy wagon that came with the electronic shocks?
October 10, 200718 yr It should. If you got a wagon, you'll need to use Wagon struts & springs. If you got a sedan then you gotta use sedan parts. If your Legacy is FWD you need FWD parts, and if yours is AWD you need AWD parts. -Brian
October 11, 200718 yr Yes it will work. Now is the time to decide if your happy with your current height of car as you can go with outback strut/springs and get an aditional 2" of lift with a firmer ride. The FWD struts/springs will work they just leave you 1/2" lower than stock AWD. (Used them on my 90LS wagon for a while, currently running 96 outback struts/springs) The front are a direct bolt in (Complete assembly) from 90-99 I believe. The rears are a bit more complicated. There are cone shaped and cylinder shaped springs requiring a different strut top for each. 90-94 top have a different bolt pattern from the 95-99 models. You will need the proper strut top for your year of car and spring used. I also have complete strut assemblys (All 4) from a 90 LegacyL AWD wagon. (Cone shaped rear springs). Stumpy

Stumpy Thanks for all the information. That will help me decide about buying a '93 Legacy with bad air shocks. Any opinion as to whether I'm on the right track in wanting a 90'-94' generation Legacy? My old one lasted 325K miles and seemed more reliable and planted in the snow than my 03' Outback or the 05' Outback I have now. The 90-94' generation cars seem better to me. Or, have I just not had enough experience with the other years? Thanks
