chilli
What is the correct amount of oil to add to the engine of a 2000 Legacy GT after an oil and filter change? The owner's manual calls for 4.5 liters (4.75 us quarts) in the EJ25 engine, but when I add this amount,it is well above the full mark on the dipstick. This is the first Subie I have bought (recently) and am wondering if this is a common thing or could it be an incorrect dipstick? DerFahrer
Run the engine, and then the new oil filter should take up what you are finding as "extra"...
Pillowsplat
I put just a hair over 4 qt.s and get between the lines. 4.75 qts sounds like to much.

I fill my new oil filter as much as possible prior to installation and the remaining contents of a 4 litre oil container fill the engine to just above the full mark on the dipstick. My manual indicates 4 litres for the EJ25, which is about 4.25 qts. (1 qt = 0.946 litres).
