November 26, 200718 yr I understand the ballast resistor is not needed when using an electronic distributor (with the appropriate coil of course!), however, despite several searches I cannot find a definitive answer as to where the wires for the original ballast resistor go. Is it just a matter of connecting these wires directly to the new coil? Do you, for example, connect the positive wire from the ballast resistor to the positive side of the coil and the negative to the negative side? Does the ballast resistor even have a negative side? Thanks in advance for any replies! Cheers Lee

November 28, 200718 yr Author Thanks Rob. I have actually read that post. Perhaps I am missing something but it only tells me I do not need the ballast resistor coil. Do I just leave the wires dangling or are they connected to the positive on the coil?
November 28, 200718 yr Leeroy, the ballast resistor is connected to the positive on the coil and the external voltage regulator. Its a simple removal of the wiring for it asl well since it doesn't go very far. Its spliced into both wires so its a matter of unsplicing it out of the harness.
December 1, 200718 yr Question regarding this... Does anyone know where to get a cheap remaned electronic distributor (the FWD one everyone says is an upgrade) from? I picked one up from pick'n'pull but its not in the best of shape...
