January 23, 200818 yr What color is the negative wire to the coil? is it the yellow one or the black one with the white stripe? This is an EA82 wagon, carbed, I need to know like now please! Thanks in advance, -Bill
January 23, 200818 yr Author Thanks, I had a brain fart and remembered my mom's wagon is the EXACT same thing that mine was, so I went and looked at it. The real reason I ask is because I keep blowing the fuel pump/coil fuse, and I dont know why. I replaced the coil so we will see what happens, I think I damaged something when I shorted the battery on the alternator about 3 months ago. I replaced the fuses that were blown, and the black fusible link, but I have blown the fuel pump/coil fuse 3 times since i put in the new motor. btw I had a coil from a wrecked turbo wagon in when i blew the second and third fuses, and I replaced it with the stock one. Think I need to replace the fuel pump? -Bill

Think I need to replace the fuel pump?-Bill my wagon had a replacement pump on it when i got it at 110k . . . my suggestion would be to make sure the pump is grounded well (leaky hoses can cause a huge mess that's non condusive to a good ground) and also if you have a multimeter, make sure the positive line isn't grounding against the body, eliminate all you can before replacing pump, i think those are kinda expensive:eek:
January 23, 200818 yr Author Thanks, normally I am pretty good at figuring this stuff out on my own, but this one has me confuzzled. I know it all started when I shorted the battery on the alternator. Thank you for your help, I appreciate it very much -Bill
