mechdoug
I have a 96 Legacy Outback Automatic with the 2.5 engine. I need to find a used transmission. How can I tell which transmissions will work in my car, there are so many different numbers. Which models and years to search for? Is there A list posted anywhere? I was going to post my transmission number but dont have it with me now. The reason you ask! Well!! It seems when I reinstalled the engine the torque converter must not have been seated in all the way, and from reading in the forums sounds like I broke the pump because it lasted 2 days before it started slipping and then 2 day later quit working. johnceggleston
any 2.5L auto trans 96 - 98 (some early 99s) will fit. the critical identifier is the 7th character '2' in the trans number, TZ102Z2xxx. (trans with a letter here will not work unless you swap in the matching rear differential.) this includes: outbacks LSi GT
