March 10, 200818 yr I know this has been discussed before but I have a question that I haven't seen addressed yet. Some of you know from my rants I have had a bad time with my OB 2.5. I'm getting ready to do the swap to 2.2 so I've been checking things out more closely. Noticed that my 2.5 does have a EGR on it. My buddy who did the 1st engine replacment (2.5 for a 2.5 oh gwad) told me he had to use my original intake. Having a MT I was surprised to see the EGR. The eng comp sticker also shows vac routing for a egr. The tag near the drivers side shock tower indicates it has always been a MT. Anyone have any ideas about this?

It's normal for the 97 2.5 MT to have an EGR. You DO NOT reuse the 2.5 intake manifold on a 2.2 swap. You use the 2.2's intake manifold. Buy a '95 2.2 which was originally in an automatic car and it'll have an EGR. No codes, no problems. Nathan
March 10, 200818 yr Author Thanks Hank, I've got a 97 leg w/ a 2.2L I'm driving now it looks like it's going to be the donor car. I thought the ex. ports on the 97 2.2 would be the same as the 97 2.5 but I looked and they are not so I'll have to use the leg Ypipe.
March 10, 200818 yr yes - all EJ25's have EGR, so that's normal. yeah your 97 EJ22 will have single port exhaust while the EJ25 will have dual. just swap the ypipe with it, no big deal.
