Reading another members post about a possible HG issue he mentioned the collapsed coolant hose. I'm wondering if this is normal because when my engine is cold it's always collapsed a little bit. I always thought it was because of high and low temp pressure differences. Once the car is warmed up the hose is normal.

Otherwise there are no signs of HG issues (that I'm aware of). Car runs great, all scheduled maintenances done on time, SoobSlime was added at the 60k service interval, fluids checked regularly etc...

the lowers on old american cars had springs in them, to kee them from collapsing. Mostly when they were running.

 

If yours is collapsing while it cools, I'd say it's time for a new radiator cap.

 

When the coolant drops in temp, it also drops in volume. This drop in volume is what pulls coolant into the radiator from the recovery tank. If it can't pull back from the tank, you get a vacuum, collapsing the hose.

A lot of times, on the bottom of your radiator cap, the small center disc about the size of a dime gets stuck to the big rubber washer. If you pull it off the rubber with your fingernail, and clean off any deposits that are there, the old cap should then work just fine.

Also make sure that the hose to the overflow tank isn't plugged.
