CHIM
Ok, durring the last year i have been having a problem with my headlights not working, I had to warm the car up before they would come on, somtimes sycling the ignition would speed the process up a little, but a short drive would usualy do it as well. About a week ago my left hand turn signal stoped working, i could hear the flasher going about a million miles an hour but no flashing. Yesterday while changing my water pump i see that my wiring harness has been melted by my cross pipe. about half of the wires were melted and touching one another, Got the wires all taped up and headlight still don't work., Turn signal works fine tho. Now it's not just the head lights, its the whole circuit, headlights and running lights. Is there a realay running them that might be bad?, checked all fuses, Did the "Wiggle Test" under hood and dash, double checked all the plugs i could find, replaced the switch. Any ideas? ~CHIM~

If this is you're 88 RX, then yes, there is a relay. 2 actually. one for each headlight, the running lights are powered by the one for the left headlight. They are up under the dash, to the left of the steering column, mounted in a bracket with 4 relays total.
