May 8, 200817 yr Just a quick one. I need to replace the power steering rack bushings on my '91 Liberty. Is it as easy as loosening the bolts, replacing the bushing and re-tightening? What is the tightening torque, pretty bloody tight I presume? Anything I should know about (like supporting the rack so it doesn't weigh down/lever anything out of place)? Cheers, Jean
May 8, 200817 yr i've done this before and it's straight forward. don't recall what exactly i did but i wouldn't worry about it too much, i didn't do anything spectacular. drop those mounts, slide the old out/new in and bolt it back up. tigthen nice and snug, i'd never bother with a torque wrench on those.
May 8, 200817 yr just the rubber bushings? Take out the 4 bolts and slide off/on the bushings. Reinstall the bolts. No need to disconnect anything else - the rack will be loose enough to get at the bushings 35-52 ft-lbs or 48-66 Nm depending on which wrench you have
