My friend has a 1997 Legacy Sedan and her driver's side window switch broke off (the black piece that operates the electrical switch). Has anyone got any idea of how to fix that and/or where I could locate the assembly?

I had the same thing happen on my Outback. I looked all over the place and finaly found one on Ebay for $30.00. I think that the dealer wants over $200.00 for one. You could always try a junk yard and get the whole assembly. It only took about a half hour to tear out the old one and put in the new one.

Well, I took the thing a part today. All it needs is some contact cleaner and the black plastic piece itself.

If you don't find one, I've got several. $20 shipped. Larry
