on a ej22 on a 1st gen legacy, how are the cooling fans controlled?

 

i know on the older GLs there was a temp switch mounted in the radiator that would switch on the cooling fan, but there is no such thing on the legacys.

 

So one would figure the computer would ground a relay and turn on the fans.

 

when i look at the service manual the only thing i can find off the ecu is on the f47 plug on the ecu pin 17 it says "radiator fan control".

 

would that be the pin that grounds the relay to turn on your fan?
