When I picked this Forester up it was missing the keyless entry remotes. As a matter of fact all I have for it is one key. The previous owner threw away the only remote he had. Said it quit working. Yeah that usually happens when the battery dies!:clap:So my question is what does it look like? I mean I can go on ebay and they sell them but they always have like two different kinds for this car. Does anybody have a picture of the correct keyless entry remote for a 98 Forester? I would like to make sure I buy the right remotes for this car when it actually runs again! Thanks,

Since I am looking to fix mine I think I know a little bit on the subject

 

I believe the foresters use the squarish looking one and you have to press a weird button by the hood release to set it

To make things worse that little button under the dash is broken off!

that link from I)arkZrobe is correct... I just replaced mine, twice...

 

the threaded bezel on my button was broken, so I had to hunt for it behind the dash, but it was there... it's now poking through the hole, loose... maybe someday when I'm really bored I'll find a nut or proper bezel to put on it...
