June 2, 200817 yr Hi, A response last year on this forum avoided an expensive (and unnecessary) repair - I appreciated it very much. I'm writing now about my '98 Outback - 125K miles - dealer serviced. Recently it started hesitating when waiting at red traffic lights. It feels as if it could stall out, although this has not yet happened. There are no issues when car is in motion. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Mark
June 2, 200817 yr Welcome to the forum. The term "hesitation" is usually applied to something that happens while accelerating, not at idle speed. Are you saying that the engine speed intermittently drops when idling? If so, does it do that in gear, out of gear, or both? What's the idle RPM, both when the problem shows and when it doesn't?
