Shifter bearings instead of rubber bushings?

Featured Replies

Has anyone done this? I am just interested in tightening up the shifting on my EA81 5 speed 2wd. It has new bushings now and still has good amounts of play in gear. If i could reduce that more or eliminate it that would be great. The only thing i havent replaced is the bushing or whatever it is at the base of the shifter. the other two going out towards the transmission are new.

the plastic bushing at the very bottom of the shifter is the only reason I had sloppy shifter. all my others were fine, but the bottom bushing was basically destroyed.

i kept reading threads where it said to do this, that, but nobody mentions that bottom one as the culprit. good notice here.
