Aftermarket ignition N/A EJ22

Featured Replies

Anybody ever install a MSD or Accel or any other aftermarket ignition system to a N/A EJ22? I was browsing through my Summit catalog and saw an MSD DIS-2 for distributorless ignitions, got me thinking of getting one, but don't want to compromise the reliability of my 172k bone stock never rebuilt motor, but want something to complement the Flowmaster I had installed on the stock exhaust not just in performance, but fuel economy too.

Aftermarket ignition won't help you're economy or power. Likely you're ECU won't like it either.

You might gain some performance by the reduction of weight in you're back pocket though:rolleyes:

Yeah I have one. I've been pretty pleased with it. It's been installed since the summer of 2002. No reliability issues.

What is so pleasing???

Did you actually notice any performance or mileage gains?

Or are you just happy because you want to be happy with what you've done? (a natural tendency for all of us:grin: )

I think it helped a little....but to be quite honest, that was a long while ago, and the car has undergone A LOT of changes since then, so to say whether it makes a difference today, I don't know. I'd have to plug in the bypass plug and drive around to see if I notice a difference.
