upgrading ej22

Featured Replies

i was looking at some forged pistons and head studs for my 2.2l. they said in the description of the pistons, about putting the 2.5l crank and rods into the 2.2l then using those pistons? can some1 explain alil more about this to me.

basically what im doin is the ea82 to ej22 swap. i have everything i need just w8ing for some time to begin putting it in.(have already done a complete rebuild) i will b turboing it. i have had several ppl tell me that they handle 10psi fine with no other mods. i plan on getting the 2.5l heads to lower the compression and eventually getting MS (or something similar).

so basically my ? is...

1. whats with the 2.5l crank and rods into the 2.2l block

2. all i can find is head studs for 04+, my motor is a 93. if i get the right size (11mm or 14mm) they shud work right?

3. any other facts about upgrading this motor since i dont have another lol

Only thing I will caution you about is that the first gen ej22's used a center thrust bearing setup. I pretty sure some ej25's have a rear thrust bearing setup. I don't know however which years, if any have a center thrust bearing setup.....and I can't really comment on using an ej25 crank & rods over the ej22 stuff.

If you don't get any more info here, you may want to search on http://forums.nasioc.com/forums or http://bbs.legacycentral.org
