  1. i didnt have time to pull the injector clip but i did grab the spark plug wire boot on the spark plug and i can feel the clicking as if something is hitting. i pulled the plug and its alil burnt but still in good condition. i will pull the injector plug tomorrow. any other suggestions?
  2. so i even changed the ignitor just to be safe. checked all of the above and everything is fine. right next to or under the idle air valve by cylinder 3. there is the sound of something grounding out.(loud ticking or clicking) very noticable under load. i checked the spark plug wires but they seem fine. i havent had time to buy new ones and replace them. could there be something else under the intake right there grounding out. wires is what im thinking but i want to make sure before buying new ones. alittle tight on money. and these are practically brand new.
  3. i havent had time to mess with it. will be goin down the list tomorrow. will be checking the tps again, cts, big grey plug, and the maf. will keep yall posted thanks again. its hard to check things when the problem happens. it only lasts about a min at most. and it always seems to happen in a busy intersection. it has a death wish.
  4. k so i fixed the tranny issue. the dead throttle is still happening. i changed the tps and the idle air valve. they were bad according to the book.:-\ runs better. once the car is warmed up it runs fine. but when the car is cold. the throttle is intermittently unresponsive. i have been stranded in the middle of a few different intersections. not good in traffic. really need yalls help. start naming things for me to check or replace and i will keep yall posted. thanks
  5. lets get started. i bought this 92 legacy wagon about a month ago. dude said it just suddenly stopped running. come to find out the crank key just broke so i replaced it and it started right up. he said that when he took it to the mechanic the tps, knock and o2 sensor were bad. he never changed them. after driving it for the month those codes have not popped up again. it is lacking some power and i have checked the timing several times. it seems to be timed correctly. just two days ago the check engine light came up. code 42 --- idle switch. says see chapter 4. i go to chapter 4 nothing there about it. when coming to a stop and the idle drops below 1k. no matter what i do. the throttle is dead. i just sit there sputtering. after a min or two it comes back and i can go again. need some help. where is this switch or sensor? -------------------------------------- ^^^^^^^^^------------------------------------------------ sorry found a few posts on how to fix this! will keep yall posted thanks. still need help on the rest. ============================================================================== also. from reading alot here. i have determined that when the awd is engaged the transmission goes into fail safe mode. cant go above 60, dah dah, dah. weird thing is. when i put it in fwd. it will go past 60 but still shifts really early and hesitates. unless i double pump the gas and hold it. then power mode kicks in and it down shifts. i know it shifts early for fail safe mode. but is it always suppose to shift so granny like? one more thing. when it does down shift or i ride the gears out manually. when there is load on the motor. both the battery and brake light come on. when i bought the car i changed all 4 rotors and pads, then topped off the fluid. i stop pretty quick. why are those lights coming on? thanks
  6. im doin the ea to ej swap. i ended up getting the motor from an automatic and putting my manual flywheel on. but the flywheel bolts r to short. i take it the manual bolts are longer? anyone have any they cud spare? cuz autozone dont have them. lol info helps.... thanx
  7. i was looking at some forged pistons and head studs for my 2.2l. they said in the description of the pistons, about putting the 2.5l crank and rods into the 2.2l then using those pistons? can some1 explain alil more about this to me. basically what im doin is the ea82 to ej22 swap. i have everything i need just w8ing for some time to begin putting it in.(have already done a complete rebuild) i will b turboing it. i have had several ppl tell me that they handle 10psi fine with no other mods. i plan on getting the 2.5l heads to lower the compression and eventually getting MS (or something similar). so basically my ? is... 1. whats with the 2.5l crank and rods into the 2.2l block 2. all i can find is head studs for 04+, my motor is a 93. if i get the right size (11mm or 14mm) they shud work right? 3. any other facts about upgrading this motor since i dont have another lol
  8. i blew the head gasket on the drivers side of my ea82 4wd wagon about 2 months ago. it blew right between the cylinders. i have been driving it on 2 since then. the clutch is now fully burned up from letting it out at 3-4k lol (it was horrible) but i could get up to about 45mph and thats about it. im now doin the ej swap.
  9. when i searched only suberdave came up... but he did the awd swap with his. i have a 94 loyale and i want to put coilovers on. i dont want some universal slide over crap from fleabay. wat shud i b lookin for to fit my car? modification wont be a problem. thanx
  10. the white marks on the belt itself. do i align those with the notches or the arrows on the cam pulleys?
  11. just wondering would the car already have to be carb'd or could i do the swap with a fi car? im currently doin the ej swap with fi and turbo in a 94 loyale 4wd. i also have a 86 gl fwd FI. would i b able to pull this swap off without messin with the harness?
  12. from what i see, yes. the bolt holes are the same. its just the drain tube that is different. thanx guys u helped alot.
  13. thanx guys.. ya if u can post a pic of it that would be awesome. i was thinking the sending unit aswell. i am putting a aftermarket one on. figured thro a t on there with the dif unit. if i can get the oem cap/fitting for the line cheap i will most def go that route.
  14. tyty so is there a place easy to tap the oil line or do i just replace the end cap? expain alil further if u could thanx
  15. i got two ?s for the up coming swap. i plan on beginning in the next couple weeks, im still getting the check list outa the way. lol 1) i have everything set up for the turbo on the ej22 but the feed line for the oil. where would be the best spot for the feed from the oil pump? 2) ive been reading thru the swap write-up a few times and the part on re-drilling the flywheel got me. my buddy at the machine shop will do it for $30 with resurfacing but he said to def. double check about the balancing and lining up. is there a certain way or is the motor internally balanced like i thought so re-drilling wont b a biggie? thanx guys
  16. umm how do u know? lol k so are the spec clutches also only made for the 4wd cars? i emailed them and they just sent me to the same page. and never answered my ? i dont want to end up payin 300 for the complete kit and get it. then oops its for the fwd cars only.
  17. but is it the one for 4wd? i know the splines and sizes are dif.
  18. i am doin the ea2ej swap and adding a turbo. what oil should i run. im goin full syn of course but what grade should i run?
  19. lmfao, thanx but u gotta know how it is. sometimes it just gets away from u. especially with all the dam little ricer civics. i like rollin up next to one and they look at the car like wat a piece of sh*t, and i blow them off the line. the look on there face is priceless.
  20. 1) i do believe u have to remove the instruments, at least on mine u do. 2) i know on the legacy's is was to unlock the shifter when it wasnt started. but there should be a button on the shifter its self for 4wd?
  21. k thanx, well looks like i will just be goin threw tires alot faster. even with the stock ea82 i would be lighting the front tires up. so i know the new motor isnt goin to make it any easier to keep it on the road. thanx for the help
  22. like i said it was only for a few miles and it was when i first got the car. now 4 years later.... i am in the middle of doin the ej swap. i am turboing it with 6-8 psi. trying to find a good upgradeable clutch. i was wondering about the 4wd thing cuz i have a really good feeling that the front tires will not stay on the ground under boost. so to help i was goin to run it in 4wd. but never in corners learned that one the hard way thanx lol:grin:
  23. i have a 94 loyale 4wd. is it ok to drive 4wd all the time? even at highway speeds? or will it damage something? i have drove it that way for a few miles at 80 and it didnt seem to harm anything but thought i would ask anyway
