Wheel jerks when accelerating

Featured Replies

So, I noticed a couple days ago that when I accelerate, the steering wheel jerks back and forth. When I let my foot off the gas, the jerking reduces, almost going away completely.

Today driving to work (which is about 40 miles), the jerking started getting really really bad, then it died down.

My thoughts, a CV joint is bad, like really bad. Am I correct on this? what else could it be?

(this is on my 94 Loyale)

you have an inner cv going bad. Replace the axle and you will be fine.

mike ur alive where the heck have you been

Update on this: We replaced both front axles tonight with new units. Both the outer boots were torn and the right side joint was dry and getting purple.

I would have said an OUTER joint was going bad... cause my RX was doing the same thing, until tonight, when the outer joint GRENADED all over the place while I was wheeling it. Not that I wasn't expecting it. Hope your new axles fixed it!!

Yes. Phil rocks.

And I should have taken a look at the CV joints far sooner.

I moved into the realm of an outback owner. Actually two outbacks. Got them for 500.00 each and fixed them up. Great cars.

My daughter is getting ready to drive, so we are in the process fo building her an old gen ea82 wagon. She wants something she can bury in the mud and have fun with.

For right now, I'm still around and lurking.
