4WD Auto speedo problems

Featured Replies

I have a 88 GL 4WD auto wagon with the 3.9 gear. A while back, I was driving it around and I lost third gear, but speedo was still working fine. We replaced the governor shaft, now the car shifts fine, but the speedo doesn't work. I checked both ends of the cable, and the one end is locked into the instrument cluster and the other end is still tight in the tranny. Any suggestions? I am going to convert it to either a 4 sp d/r or 5 sp d/r pretty soon, but would still like to get it fixed so I have a good 4x4 tranny laying around.

Hi sounds like the cable inside snapped. you could probably take it off the tranny and see if you can pull the cable out, if you can then you'll need a new speedo cable
