Dodgy odometer

Featured Replies

have done a few seaches but cant seem to find any info. the odometer in my 01/82 Brat(DL?) is not working - speedo works just fine but the odo dosen't . I'll admit this is not a life threatening situation but it is annoying - i like to know my fuel milage and i sometimes use my car for work and get paid for milage. i have a parts car - also an 82(DL wagon) that had the same instrument cluster so I changed it out (it has less miles on it:) ) but it has exzactly the same problem:-\ ) next i decided to investigate more closely and found the little gears that drive are not meshing like they should.

Is this a common problem?

this is also a std dash - only temp and fuel no tach so i don't see much point in trying to fix it.

can i install one with full instruments(temp, oil, battery, fuel & tach)?

will it use the same wiring?

is there wiring there and i just need to get sending units?

would it be easier to fix or replace and install aftermarket tach etc?

if there is something i can replace it with - then does any body have one?

Something may have popped loose inside your instrument display for your odometer. I believe it is gear driven off of the speedo shaft. You may be better off replacing your dash piece.
