Gonna try and check out this used 5spd D/R tomorrow. According to the yard, it's an '85 with 130k. What should I look for aside from overall dirt/oil? How much play is acceptable in the input shaft? Anything else I can check with it out of the car and on the floor?

That's pretty much it......there shouldn't be any input shaft play, or very little! Make sure all the plugs and sensors etc are there. unless it's a lot of oil leakage, don't be afraid. I have never seen one that isn't leaking a little. I just brought my spare home today and it's a low mileage one and it's leaking some. Make sure you get the shift linkage etc, as well! And interior trim!
