Electic Window Fiddlin'

OK, so I've been a die-hard manual window guy since forever. This car is the first I've ever owned with electric windows. I've always been against them because of not being able to get them down without the key. I still don't like that, but I know I could get around it if I really wanted to. But truth is, I'm not a teenager anymore and I'm not spending my weekends doing illicit things with girls, alcohol, or drugs that require window operation in a "no key" environment. Furthermore, I really kind of like the feature where the window runs down on auto with the "full click" of the switch. This comes in really handy when I pull in to the parking garage and need to juggle my coffee and my parking card. What would also be super cool is if the "auto" feature worked for the up direction as well.

So my question is:

How is the "auto-down" accomplished, and can it be convinced to do "auto-up" as well?

Thanks!!

Will-

I think something happened with all 93 + model cars by law removing this feature. My 93 legacy wagon L has auto up and down. My 94 turbo sedan has only auto down. Not sure how easy it would be to add this though.

Wow, "by law" ?? really?

Think about all the little kids who might stick their fingers in the windows... and all the parents who had to spend time teaching their kids not to stick their fingers in the windows.

Now all you gotta do is teach 'em to holler loud enough that the driver can hear 'em, and stop raising the window (since if the kid was the one raising the window, I'd hope they'd know enough to stop).

Think of the kids, right? Who wants to be parents any more? /sarcastic

Right, forgot about the kids. Except that it's only the driver's window that has this auto option and in theory if the kids are in the driver's seat they either stole the keys or the keys are with the responsible adult and there is no window movement of any kind.

Well in any case, my kids don't have any thumbs (they do drool a lot and are covered in hair) so that is not a concern for me.

So how 'bout it? Any ideas?
