Losing transmission fluid

Featured Replies

92 loyale. Auto 3 speed tranny has either been fixed or replaced 2 years ago.

I checked tranny fluid a month ago and whoa! It was 1.25 qt. low. I added it all. Checked it today and it was about 1/2 qt low. I checked it in park. Where is the fluid going?

Pull the vacuum line off of the vacuum modulator and see if there is any fluid in the line or comming out of the modulator. It's pretty common for the modulator to go bad and allow fluid to be sucked into the engine through the vacuum line.

Which side of the tranny is the vacuum regulator located?

Neither Chilton's nor Haynes mention anything about it (like that comes as a surprise).

check the front diff gear oil for signs of ATF
