05 legacy Turbo question

Featured Replies

Hello friends, I have a question pertaining to an 05 Legacy GT. I honestly dont know too much about them, (owning just a 96 outback) but the Legacy sedan Im looking at is listed as a 2.5 Turbo. Its an 05 with 109k miles and a 5 speed. Asking price is $8900. Opinions, feedback???

Ive heard some of the 05 Legacy GT's have had some ECU problems relating to the cooling fans ( apparently your supposed to go through a check list of items to check/replace before condemning the ECM..but it is to my understanding that something gets damaged in the ECM and allows the cooling fans to continuously run or not run at all) ...Other than that The Legacy is a very good car..I have my 96 with over 200k on it..and it runs very well...I would find out things such as who where the previous owners of the car...any maintenance records available?... check out here... http://www.cars101.com/ for some info...

According to Kelly Blue Book, $8900 is right on the private party book value for this model with this mileage in good condition, so you should have some wiggle roof on the price.

I've test driven the auto and manual 2005 GT Wagons and liked the manual gearbox much better, it just seemed to be much more responsive.

Make sure you do a THOROUGH inspection before purchasing, all kinds of things can go wrong with that much distance travelled in a short time.
