March 29, 200917 yr Now that the MAF has been replaced, Murphy, the $500 87 T-Wag is running really good. Better than it has in quite a while. No more little hiccups or misfires during acceleration. BUT I'm getting a strange ECU code - .4. Yes, it's four quick flashes. Anyone seen something like this?
March 29, 200917 yr That is the model designator. 1-4 for MPFI excact # specifies manual or auto, cali or federal 5-8 for SPFI, same deal If you are getting that steady, then there are no codes
March 29, 200917 yr 4 flashes = Automatic California model computer. Pg 105 of the manual I gave you the link too (its for '88 model year though.) The CEL is off right?
March 29, 200917 yr Author No, I swapp'd the crappy 3AT for a FT4WD 5 speed. That one will have to be changed - its leaking fluid and I'd rather have the 5 speed hi lo.
March 30, 200917 yr No, I swapp'd the crappy 3AT for a FT4WD 5 speed. That one will have to be changed - its leaking fluid and I'd rather have the 5 speed hi lo. yeah but the computer still thinks it is an automatic. that is what the 4 code designates
March 31, 200917 yr Author yeah but the computer still thinks it is an automatic. that is what the 4 code designates I know. After driving Murph for the last couple of days, I can definitely say it has better acceleration, especially low end, than it's had in a very long time.
