EJ25/4.111:1 into EA82/3.900:1 Wagon...

Featured Replies

Well.. I might have the option to do a "buy-back" on my impreza that i wrecked back in september...

I completely killed the body.. everything from headlights to taillights, not one body panel is anygood. I'm assuming the drivetrain is good still.

How difficult would going from EA82 power to EJ25 power... some subaru crawling and not some ugly mutant crawler.

Im guessing the complete drivetrain with all the electronics for the ECU. Do I need the engine, tranny crossmembers? What else?

The EJ25 should (with some grinding on the motormounts) fit the engine crossmember, but you will need the tranny crossmember. The rear peice of the tranny crossmember will need to be narrowed. You will need all of the front wiring harness and the ECU. The rear diff might be different and won't accept the EA82 rear axles, but then all you'll need to do is find a rear diff out of a Legacy, I believe most of the early ones were 4.111 ratio. Did your Impreza have a hydraulic clutch? If so, there will be some mod necessary to get that to work.

yeh its hydraulic clutch...

Oh.. and i sure as hell wasn't intending to use the EA82 axles or swing arms.. im talking FULL transplant.

I bet that EJ25 has enough to turn 31x12.50's ...
