no dash lights, then flashing, then always on

Featured Replies

Have a 97 OB that is in the shop right now for a engine work. A few days before taking it in, all the dash lights quit working. I could not find any logical reason why. After the mechanic had the battery disconnected and then hooked back up, they started flashing. Saw the yellow label under the hood that tells you how to reset it with the key fob. Now the dash lights stay on all the time regardless of key in ignition or not and I can hear something like a flasher clicking somewhere in the dash.

Any clues???

Thanks

Try a search on the board using the keywords "battery disconnect flashing alarm" and see some of the answers for the problem you are having.

I thought there was a reset switch under the dash for that model but maybe not. The flashing lights should be with the marker lights when the alarm needs to be reset, not the dash lights. If the dash lights are staying on with the key OFF then the ignition power has been bypassed somehow. Power to the lights should be cut off when the key is OFF.

Turn the key on and press the small little black button. It is ussually mounted to the lower left corner of the dash. It is hard to spot, looks like a small black plastic cap, and can be mistaken for part of the trim mounting. but it has a tiny button in it. Press that and all the lights should go off.

The box you here ticking is the keyless entry unit
