Smoked Sausages ...

Featured Replies

Okay, I’ve got one for you guys …

I don't take my Booperoo out on the E-way much ... see, I'm paranoid. And today didn't help. Last time I took him out on the E-way, I popped a timing belt & ended up having the heads rebuilt - that was last year. Anyway, today was the 1st time since then that I did (about 8 months). Was driving from one town to the next, and I was on the E-way for about 25 minutes @ 3500rpm (70-75mph).

I noticed a smell while I was making some ramps from one expressway to the next, but I didn’t know it was coming from me until I got off the exit ramp. At the light right off the ramp, I looked in the rear-view & there was thick white(ish) smoke coming out the back, and then I got the full-thrust of the smell – I wish I could describe the smell – it really reminded me of something but I can't think of what (ever notice how smells can really jog your memory sometimes?).

Anyway, I pulled-over, checked the oil – nice level, nice & clean (next oil change in like 500 miles), no milk, nothing like that – smelled around the motor – nothing odd. Zero. Started it up again, drove here, no problems. Now it seems to run fine.

Any ideas at all? I mean… was I just "Burnin' the gunk out"? to quote Bill Cosby. What do you think?

Ive had mouse nests around the manifold, or dust and oil burning off when the car sits for a while, hmm no stray sausage, that would be cool I love sausage , we use to cook foil dinners on the manifold when traveling I80 to the Rocky's, when I was a kid.

I've had the infamous "oil being sucked into the pcv valve on long, sweeping, right hand turns" smoke screen once with my loyale. Big cloud of smoke in my rear view mirror! I can imagine it was more annoying before the pcv hose fix recall.

Woah! That's VERY interesting! Both my turns were 270s and via right hand cloverleaf, and at a pretty decent G ... the 1st time when I thought I smelled it, and the 2nd time when I actually SAW it.

Dude, you might have hit it on the nail!

Question is ... why smoked sausages? Maybe I should check under the hood again - hehe!
