I have 93 Impreza w/ almost 210,000 miles on it, and when I go around corners it feels as if I am pushing a clutch in a little then it grabs again. RPM's go up and then it grabs? I need a good source on finding a rebuilt one.

only when you go around corners? its AWD right? Hows your tires? sounds like torque bind...

FWD just acts like a slipping clutch, only its auto

I'd try a full trans flush before looking for another trans. How's the fluid quality and level and when was it serviced last?

fluid is on full, but I worry about the mileage, and at stops when I take off it is also like having a clutch, it sounds cool! At a stop I push on gas and it revs to 3-4k while slowly moving forward then it grabs!

Many tranny problems like this can be solved by a flush of the transmission system. Find a place that can do the flush either with a fancy machine (best choice) or by simply detaching the ATF return line from the radiator and pouring new fluid in while the old pumps out.

 

You can drop the pan yourself and change the external filter (if your car has one) but that will still leave several quarts in the torque convertor.

 

$100 for a flush is alot cheaper than a new transmission.
