OK, at the beginning of the year I lost 4th gear when I slammed a pothole pretty good. Inspection showed the shift linkages looked fine. Did find a bad tranny mount and just had time to replace it (finally).

 

I still don't have 4th, can select when stopped, grind syncro when moving.

 

Any ideas where my problem is?

 

1996 Legacy Wagon 2.2? 5 speed

Probably something broke inside the transmission with the shifter fork. Not much you can do about it unless you open the transmission up.
