steering knuckle install (egg or the chicken)

What would go easier, install the knuckle (axle, ball joint, tie rod end) before the strut.

Or.. install the strut into the knuckle then push the whole assembly into place, then thread the axle through?

How do you roll?

I'd install the strut, loosely. Meaning just thread the nuts on a little from up above. Then install the knuckle onto the strut. Pull the axle thru the hub and install everything else. At least, I think thats how I'd do it.

Sounds about right, attach the strut loosely at the top, put the knuckle on it, thread the axle through, then put the balljoint in. That (minus actually removing the strut top) is how I took a knuckle out to press an axle that severely rusted in place. .75hrs paid vs 1.5hrs invested- I hated flat rate in CT.
