backinbrat
right, so ive looked at the block ive got split, and the pistons are all layed out, but its been quite a while, and ive been a bit pre occupied, anyways, long story short which way to the pistons go in the bores, there is a casting number and somin like a manufacturer name on the other side, (these both being on the inside of the piston) if this helps, anyone got any ideas otherwise? also one other thing, i have FOOLISHLY not numbered the psitons, as far as i remember, they still remain in the same order, but i do have letters A-D on the piston heads, is this a manufacturer stamp, or an aftermarket one? im assuming, logically, A=1 B=2 etc sounds like a stupid way to start, and i know! haha! Jerry DeMoss
Turn the block upside down and there will be letters stamped on the block halves. They will tell you what piston goes where. A=A, B=B ect. The lettering is way subaru marked the pistons to go with the bores so they fit properly. You don't have to worry about pistons going in a certain side on the ea81's compared to the ej series that are marked side specific.
backinbrat
ah righto, so it would work as the letters match, as subaru put them in, and the direction of the letter, so its the right way up when, the letter tops are facing the top of the engine, as you would read them side specific? i thought, if something weared where it has, it should go back that way? or is that what you mean and or am i just being dumb lol, cheers man
