Disty

Featured Replies

Got alittle bit of money so thought with ordering a new thermo i would order a cap and rotor and finish my ignition system.

At 1st subaru they mention quite a few things for disty and was wondering if the good folks on here could tell me if it was a good idea for me to replace these things as well. Oh and when ordering the cap it asks for single or dual pickup. How can i tell which one i have.

Distributor Advance

Pick UP Coil

Govenor

Thanks in advance

Guido is an SPFI model isn't he?

That means his disty has none of those things you mentioned in it. It is an Optical style CAS. No pickup coil, no advance(computer controled) and I don't even know what the governor would be....??

Just get a cap and rotor, that is all you need. Spend the extra money on a good set of plugs and wires if it's burning a hole in yer pocket.

Yes guido is a spfi car but ive already ordered and installed ngk plugs and wires. Its part its needs to be done, part chaseing some gremlens kinda thing. Just as long as there oem.

If yours is the optical style disty like Gloyale mentions then you only can replace the cap and rotor. Folks have cleaned the optical disk and sensor before as well. There's a bearing in there somewhere too, but you'd have noticeable play if that needed replaced.

Good luck.
