there are 2 vacuum hoses that are sticking out of the firewall on the drivers side. the outside diameter of them is both the same, one the interior diameter is different. which one is the fuel return line? and what is the other one for?

Thanks

John

i tried to use subman90's write up but all the pictures are gone and the link 404'd

I cant remember locations exactly but one of those lines should be the return and the other is the tank vent (leave open). If you pulled the lines off the stock carb the fuel return should have been the smaller of the two that was hooked up right next to the main fuel line.

the one on the left has a larger inner diameter and the one on the right has the smaller one

EDIT: i hooked up the small one to the fuel return

I capped off one vacuum line and now it stays running.

but at 2500 rpm no matter what i do to the idle screw

Check to make sure you have everyone of the vaccume lines plugged it sounds like there is an intake leak.....................
