Diassembling EA-81 dash

Featured Replies

I could never figure out why the middle air vent on the passenger side refused to let air through. Well, the light just happened to hit it the right way and I noticed what appears to be a 6" 2-way speaker jammed in there. I'd like to take it out.

How do I get the dash top off? I've never taken one of these apart before and couldn't find anything through searching - which means I probably used the wrong terms; I'm sure this has been covered before. Any help appreciated.

You are looking at the factory speaker mount location. there never was air coming out the vents, notice the vents are rigid, solid in there, they don't rotate side to side.

leave it as it....

thats right the air has never come out of there

if you want to replace the speaker with a better one you can get to it by removing the glovebox and possibly the junk tray under it - pretty easy just screws and the you can get to the speaker

*Facepalm* OK, I feel dumb for not noticing that before. Three Brats and this is the first time it's been noticed.

Somebody's already got in there ahead of me - the speaker's a Pioneer 2-way, but it's not putting out any sound. Good to know it's an easy shot, though - one way or another, I'll need to do something about it. Thanks!
