2001 Forester hood latch sticks

Featured Replies

I have a 2001 Forester. I opened the hood the other day to check fluid levels and now the hood will not latch shut.

I applied lubricant to the exposed latch assembly to no avail.

Is there an easy fix without going to service?

after adding a little lube..stick a screwdriver down in there and jimmy it around a little bit..sometimes things get a little crudded up...That almost always does the trick Ive done it to dozens of Subies..

EVO - thanks - that did the trick. It took a little fiddling around but I finally found the part that was sticking, I was looking at the wrong pieces. there was a small assembly with a lightweight spring, attached to the release cable that was sticking.

good deal!..:) always like it when its something simple...
