August 21, 200916 yr I have alot of guts from some 83 gl wagons and one late 80's EA82 sedan with an Auto. My plan is to build a small utility 4x4 from these drivetrains. I built a pretty hot EA81 from the pieces, now I'm putting the gearbox together. All the EA81 cars I have had the 4sp d/r manual. The differential gears are 3.9 ratio. My question is how large of tire is anyone using with a similar setup, I would like to run 28" *10" and not have to use low range for screwin off on the beach (Verry soft sand and Mud). Is there another car with 4.11 gears I can transplant the ring and pinion? Is there a dual range transmission that came with 4.11 gears? any help would be appreciated. AC

AC Simple answer is No, and No. With 28s you should be fine. 30" or larger you will need more Horses(EJ18 or 22) or a t-case.
